Idiot Box is the next great show that Jensen at Gallery 1988 has put together. The concept was for each artist to show their take on a television show that influenced or impressed something on them. I thought about what I wanted to do for a while. The A-Team, Greatest American Hero, Quantum Leap, and the Muppets were mulled over. But it was cartoons that made the biggest impression on me.But since most of the cartoons I loved are being currently being made into live action flicks, I deceide to reach way back and find a couple that hadn't been made.

My old roommate from Kubert School, Ed Herrera, once did a kick ass Danger Mouse piece that I couldn't get out of my head. I had already decided to do a DM painting, and they don't look anything alike, but I have to give him credit for doing it first. So that's how Danger is My First Name came to be.

But I still had one more piainting to layout. After more thought, I realized that I'm still being influnced by cartoons. My current favorite is easily The Venture Bros. Rather than trying to do an epic painting of all my favorite characters running aroud in some way that the creators never intended, I decided to go with Brock, The Swedish Murder Machine.

I sill have two more shows coming up. A Russ Meyer tribute at m modern in April, and the children's book show at 1988 SF in May.

On to desing...

I'm pretty pleased with the work I'm been doing for Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto night. I added serveral new designs from the past couple months to the design section.

Under the Influence: Beastie Boys is opening at Gallery 1988 on the 8th of January. It's looking doubtful that I will be present at the opening. So let me know how it goes.

As you can see above, I have a piece in the show. It's a big one.

While you're there, pick up one of the Buffer Overflow prints. We only ran 100 of them so I assume that 88 only has a handful left. If you can't make it down to the shop, grab it here.

I also got around to putting the illustration section back up. I was even able to add some newer works to the other sections.

With the site up to date I'll be getting back to painting. I have a some shows coming up that I'm stoked about. Idiot Box at Gallery 1988 LA , a Children's Book show at 1988 SF, and Abstraction distraction at m modern.

I have the Idiot Box pieces sketched out and they look dope. I was making sound effects while sketching them out. So that's a good sign.
